Position Purpose

Responsible for directing and organizing the activities of the restaurant to maintain high standards of food and beverage quality and service to maximize profits through outstanding guest service.

Essential Functions - What Will I Be Doing?

Specifically, you would be responsible for performing the following tasks to the highest standard: 

  • Execution of interviewing, selecting, training, supervising, counseling and disciplining restaurant staff for efficient operations. Organizes and conducts pre-shift and employee meetings communicating pertinent information to the staff, such as daily reservation counts, menu specials and changes. 
  • Schedules and directs staff in their work assignments. 
  • Maximizes restaurant profitability; implements effective controls of food, beverage, and labor costs and monitors the restaurant’s budget to ensure efficient operations, including achieving budgeted revenue and labor expenses
  • Ensures par stock levels are maintained by calculating inventory, ordering, retrieving and stocking products. 
  • Evaluates cost effectiveness of all aspects of operation. Develops and implements cost saving and profit enhancement measures. 
  • Utilizes computers to accurately charge guests, create forecasts and revenue reports. Inputs and retrieves data and changes computer procedures and programs the system accordingly to restaurant operations. 
  • Moves throughout facility and kitchen areas to visually monitor and take corrective action to ensure food quality and service standards are met.
  • Provides guidance for improvement and implements necessary adjustments for consistency. 
  • Interacts positively with guests. 
  • Learn and memorize all table numbers and seat positions
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures that relate to the restaurant as well as all local, state and federal laws and regulations
  • Responsible for ensuring cleanliness and proper sanitation of all work and service areas.

What Are We Looking For?

  • Knowledge of local products such as produce, seafood, farms, and farmers
  • Ability to present and converse the menu, restaurant concept, and memorize daily specials in an eloquent manor as well as delivering the highest standards of service in a busy and fast paced environment
  • Basic knowledge of common food allergies such as celiac

  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquette
  • Ability to clearly communicate both verbally and written. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language sufficiently and clearly to understand and communicate menus, special promotions, record orders, answer the phone and communicate with coworkers and guests
  • Must possess basic computer skills, computation skills and be able to operate a pos system
  • Ability to complete side work duties such as taking out the trash, stocking glassware, sweeping restaurant, cleaning glass surfaces, move furniture including but not limited to chairs and tables and or polishing all table setups
  • Able to work in all inclement weather such as in the sun, wind and or rain
  • Ability to arrive punctual to work along side having a regular and reliable attendance and being able to work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Must maintain a professional and positive demeanor in all situations with high character standards with the ability to resolve guest complaints
  • Thorough knowledge of service operations including foods, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and deal with stressful situations during busy periods. 
  • Ability to access and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer system.
  • Interpersonal skills to provide overall guest satisfaction.


Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to continuously walk and or stand, move up and down multiple flights of stairs and transport items (such as glassware, dishes, heated plates, beverages and chairs) weighing up to 50 lbs. continuously, throughout the duration of a possible 8 hour shift on a regular basis or for the duration of your shift
  • Requires bending, stretching, twisting, stooping, carrying, lifting and reaching above the shoulder in excess to 50 lbs with your body and arms and or being able to push or pull 100 lbs.
  • HS Diploma preferred
  • Prior Hospitality experience preferred

Education and Skills: 

  • High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in restaurant management. Have knowledge of overall business management.
  • Computer Skills: Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with POS system. Must have an aptitude to learn new computer systems.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with guests and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy to defuse anger and to collect accurate information and to resolve problems. 
  • Complete Manager Training Program.
  • Experience with supervision of employees required. 
  • Other Requirements: Must be at least 21 years of age
